Try a few tricks to help control appetite and thus calorie intake.

Drink an 8-10 oz glass of water 20 minutes before your meal. It will enhance a feeling of fullness thus less hunger.

Keep sugary foods out of the pantry and refrigerator. Do not buy sugary cereals,even for the children( start good eating habits early)

Do not eat within 3 hours before bedtime.

Snack with healthy nuts: pistachios,walnuts and almonds.

Be sure to eat breakfast and try to eat within one hour of waking. This will prevent the slow down of metabolic rate the protective fat saving mechanism that will prevent you from losing weight in your weight loss program.
